3. Redmi 7

Redmi 7 comes with a 6.26-inch display which is sharp and bright for under 8k price point. The build is of polycarbonate material but with the shine, it looks like glass. The design is also good for the price range as the phone competes with the Realme 3.

On the processor side, Redmi 7 brings in a Snapdragon 632 with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage which can be expanded up to 512 MB. The phone has an Antutu of 104862 which does not match to the competition of Realme 3. So the processor is not the best but is a decent choice for day to day tasks and medium level multitasking.

For the camera, Redmi 7 gets a dual rear camera of 12 MP primary sensor and 2 MP depth sensor. The front camera has an 8 MP sensor and the camera overall performs in a standard manner and does not offer anything extraordinary. The Redmi Y3 has a better selfie camera is a similar budget.

The battery is good with 4000 mAH rating and offers a backup of more than a day however the phone does not support fast charging. The software has MIUI 10 installed based on the Android Pie and has bloatware but offers many features.

Redmi 7 is not the best phone in the market and a slight budget increase can get you a much better phone. If you are looking for Redmi 7, you can increase your budget to Rs 9000 to get the 3GB RAM variant so it would be best if you can get the Redmi Note 7 with much better specifications.

4. Infinix Smart 3 Plus

Infinix Smart 3 Plus is a budget phone from Infinix which is priced under 7000 in India. The phone is well built and looks nice as well. The display is 6.2 inches large waterdrop notch display with a screen to body ratio of 88%. The display can get very bright and has good colors. The resolution is just HD+ so it is not that sharp.

The camera on the rear is a triple camera setup of 13MP + 2MP + Low Light sensor. The triple camera is just a gimmick as the third sensor doesn't add any value so you should consider it as regular dual camera where 13MP is the color sensor and 2MP is the depth sensor. On the front, we have an 8MP selfie camera. The camera performance of the phone is not that great but not bad as well. It can take some decent pictures in outdoor conditions. Considering the price segment of this phone, there's not much to complain.

The Smart 3 Plus phone is powered by MediaTek A22 Quad Core 2.0GHz Processor which is a decent processor in this range. For storing pictures, videos, apps, and games, there is 32GB internal storage and to handle multiple apps there is 2GB of RAM which might not be sufficient if you are a heavy user. The battery is 3500 mAh and would give one day of backup with normal use.

Overall, Infinix Smart 3 Plus is a nice looking budget phone with decent performance under 7000. The 2GB RAM is a limiting factor while multitasking so if you use a lot of apps, go with a phone with at least 3GB RAM. If you are just going to use social media apps and calling then Smart 3 Plus would work fine for you.

5. Samsung M10 16GB

Samsung M10 is Samsung's budget phone to compete with brands like Redmi and Realme. It comes with great looks and large display and doesn't look like a budget phone at all. The display is 6.2 inches large and the resolution is HD+. It has a tiny waterdrop notch on top. Samsung calls it Infinity V display. The bezels are thin and the screen to body ratio is above 90%.

There is a dual camera setup on the back and single front selfie camera. The rear setup is 13MP+5MP where 13MP is a color lens and 5MP is ultra wide angle lens to capture a wider field of view. The front camera is a normal 5MP sensor. The camera performance is quite good considering the device is priced at less than Rs. 8000 and there's not much to complain.

The phone is powered by Samsung's own Exynos 7870 chipset and comes in 2 variants: 2GB RAM and 16GB Storage, 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. The price difference is just 1000 so it makes sense to go for the higher variant as extra RAM will be useful in multitasking and extra storage is always great to store more music, videos, and other files. There is a dedicated MicroSD slot available as well to increase the storage by up to 256GB.

The battery inside the M10 is 3400 mAh and would give a backup of 1 day with normal usage. With low use you can get around 1.5 days on a single charge.

Overall, M10 is a solid offering from Samsung in the budget segment and competes with phones like Realme C1 and Redmi 6. It is the best phone under 8000 from Samsung in India.

6. Asus Zenfone Max M2

Asus Zenfone Max M2 and Max Pro M2 are the successors of Zenfone Max M1 which was one of the bestsellers in the under Rs. 15000 segment. The M2 and M2 Pro packs improvement in the processor, camera, and design and look like good upgrades.

The Zenfone Max M2 is the budget variant and comes with a simple design and Snapdragon 632. The back design is the same as Zenfone Max Pro M1 and on the front, there is one minor change which is that now we have a notch display. The display resolution is just HD which is a bit disappointing because it is a large 6.3-inch display and if you are used to high-resolution displays, this is going to look pixelated. If you are not used to high-resolution displays then you won't probably notice it.

The processor inside the Zenfone Max M2 is Snapdragon 632 with 3/4GB of RAM and 32/64GB of storage. There is a difference of Rs.2000 in the two variants and if you are a heavy user, go for the 4-64GB variant. The Snapdragon 632 is a good processor and power efficient as well. It will handle switching between apps and games without any issues. The battery inside the phone is 4000 mAh which means you can expect a backup of 1.5 to 2 days on a single charge.

The camera on Zenfone Max M2 is probably the best camera on an under Rs. 10000 smartphone. On the rear, we have a dual camera system (13 MP + 2 MP) that will help you take bright photos any time of the day, or even at night. The 2 MP camera is a depth sensor for bokeh/portrait mode pictures. The 13 MP primary camera has a wide F1.8 aperture, 1.12 µm (micrometer) pixel size, and 0.03S PDAF for clear and vibrant photos in almost any lighting condition. Plus, it has EIS and you can record up to 4K UHD videos. Asus has also added some AI features which help to detect scenes and improve performance.

Overall, Zenfone Max M2 is a well-balanced smartphone under 8000. It has a good processor, it can take great pictures and the battery backup is excellent as well.

7. Lenovo A5

Lenovo A5 is a budget phone from Lenovo and is priced around Rs. 6000 in India. It comes with specs similar to other smartphones in this range. On the front, we have a 5.45 inch HD display which looks fine. On the back, we have a 13MP camera and a fingerprint sensor. The camera works well and takes decent pictures in outdoor natural light conditions. The performance indoors is average just like other budget phones. For selfies, there is an 8MP camera on the front and has a similar story with decent pictures in good lighting conditions.

The A5 is powered by MediaTek MTK6739 processor which is an entry-level chipset and supports 4G VOLTE. There is 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. The storage is expandable by a MicroSD card. The slot is dedicated so you won't be compromising with the dual sim functionality of the phone. The 2GB RAM struggles if you use a lot of apps. If you just going to use the phone for calling, WhatsApp and Facebook then you would be fine.

The battery inside the phone is the USP of this device. A5 comes with a large 4000 mAh battery. Smaller display, lower resolution, an efficient processor and a large battery means you are going to get excellent battery backup from this phone. With regular usage, you can get a backup of 2 days on a single charge.

If you need a big battery budget phone at a price of under 6000 to 7000, then Lenovo A5 is a decent option.

8. Nokia 5.1 Plus

Nokia 5.1 Plus is a budget phone from Nokia which comes with an excellent build quality, looks very premium and has a powerful processor. Nokia 5.1 Plus has a glass design which gives it a premium look and makes it a bit slippery as well. On the front, we have a 5.8 inch HD display with a notch. The resolution is not full HD so that's a negative but still the clarity, color reproduction and brightness is good.

Inside there is an Helio P60 processor which is a very powerful chipset and power efficient as well. Performance wise, it is a bit better than Snapdragon 660 so that's great. To assist the multitasking there is just 3GB of RAM. The phone runs on stock android with no bloatware at all so even with 3GB RAM, the performance is great and you won't face any lags. For storage, there is 32GB of storage.

The battery inside is 3060mAh which provides average battery backup. With normal usage, you can expect a backup of 1 day on a single charge. The charger provided is 5V 2Amp normal charger.

On the back, we have a dual camera setup of 13MP PDAF f/2 + 5MP Depth Sensor. On the front, we have a single 8MP sensor. The performance of the camera is decent overall with natural looking pictures and a good amount of detail. The portrait mode also works well with good edge detection and natural looking bokeh.

If you need a handy phone that is not too big, looks great and performs well then Nokia 5.1 Plus is for you. Nokia has been providing software updates quickly so that's another plus point.

9. Infinix Note 5

Infinix has made a decent name in the Indian market by providing good quality products and Infinix Hot S3, Hot 6 Pro has received good feedback from its users. With Infinix Note 5, they look to further strengthen the user base in under 10000 range by competing with the likes to Redmi Note 5 and Oppo Realme.

Infinix Note 5 comes with a 5.99 inch IPS display which is bright and present good colours with proper viewing angles. The display is a bezel-less type with an 18:9 aspect ratio with a Full HD Plus resolution 1080 x 2160 pixels which is a great starting point for a phone under 10k. Secondly, the back is a glass design which looks superbly premium and shiny, you also get a transparent cover in the box to prevent fingerprint smudges.

Note 5 is powered by a MediaTek helio P23 Octa-core processor which scores around 61000 on the AnTuTu Benchmark. It is backed by a 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory. There is a dedicated SD card slot to expand the storage by up to 256 GB so you can use this phone as a proper dual sim phone. The performance is decent for day to day usage but is not recommended to play heavy game continuously.

On the camera side, you get a single 12MP rear camera which clicks decent pictures but some noise could be observed in the low light shots. On the front camera, you get a 16MP sensor, which clicks beautiful photos as well as portrait shots in the daylight but struggles a bit in the low light images. Overall, it is a decent camera for the pricing.

Infinix Note 5 runs on Android Oreo 8.1 and has stock android and comes under the Android One Program with guaranteed updates to Android P and Android Q. The UI is very smooth and has zero bloatware apart from the pre-installed Google apps. There is a fingerprint sensor at the back which is quick and accurate in unlocking. It also gets a humungous battery of 4500 mAh which translates to a battery life of around 2 days or even higher for moderate usage. Even with such a big battery, the phone does not weigh heavy in hand and is easy to work with.

Overall, for this cost of 10000, it is a decent phone for those looking for a stylish look and a huge battery life. The camera and performance are at par with other phones available in this price range.

10. Honor 9N

Honor 9N is very similar to Honor 9 Lite. The main thing that has changed is the display. Honor 9N comes with a notch display which is a trend these days. The display size is 5.84 inches and the resolution is Full HD Plus. It is a nice display with good colors and viewing angles. The overall glass design of the phone gives it a premium look. Because there is no metal and the battery capacity is just 3000, the phone is very lightweight and easy to use. The glass back looks great but it is very slippery so having a case would be a good choice to protect the phone.

The camera on the Honor 9N is a dual 13MP+2MP sensor for taking portrait mode bokeh effect shots. The front camera is a single 16MP sensor and it can also take bokeh effect pictures. The camera performance is good in good lighting conditions. Under low light indoor conditions, the performance is average.

The battery on this phone is 3000mAh and you can expect just a day of backup on a single charge. Heavy users might need to plug the device in the evening.

The phone comes in 3 variants: 3GB 32GB, 4GB 64GB and 4gb 128GB. The first one is priced at 11999, second at 13999 and the 128GB storage variant is priced at 17999. The middle variant 4GB 64GB is the most balanced one and provides the best value for money. The Kirin 659 processor with 4GB of RAM is a good configuration to handle multitasking and gaming. Performance-wise, the Kirin 659 chipset is similar to Snapdragon 625.

Go for Honor 9N if you are looking for a notch display phone under 8000 Rs. If notch display is not a requirement then Asus Zenfone Max Pro or Redmi Note 5 Pro are better options.
